For 20 years, GreenLaw has been the organization that citizens turn to in order to keep illegal toxic pollution out of Georgia’s rivers, lakes and air. With the help of supporters like you, GreenLaw has prevented millions of tons of pollutants from entering our air and water.
GreenLaw will continue taking on the toughest challenges facing Georgia’s environment but we need your help to:
- Challenge the state environmental agency’s poor handling of the largest fish kill in state history. In May 2011, more than 33,000 fish turned up dead in the Ogeechee River, and a year later in May 2012 another fish kill started in the same area downstream of the only industrial discharge directly into the Ogeechee River.
- Bring needed resources to the most disadvantaged communities by providing education, advocacy and legal representation to stop illegal pollution and protect public health through our Metro-Atlanta Environmental Justice Project;
- Hold the line against proposed coal plants that will emit millions of tons of pollutants into our air – pollutants known to cause respiratory problems, learning disabilities in our children, and even premature death.
